Charlotte Local Tournament - Phillip O' Berry Academy of Technology - November 17th, 2012

We had our first tournament of the season this past weekend.  It was an early morning and a long day, but we had a lot of fun!

We felt good about our interviews, but knew our robot game needed a lot of work.  We weren't able to do any "real" practice runs before the tournament and we knew we were over on our time and many programs weren't running as consistently as we wanted.  Then, when we got to the tournament, we realized that we had set up our Flexibility mission wrong (our top loop was turned the wrong way).  We had to scrap that mission.  Our first 2 robot game runs were horrible - 10 (scoring error) and 100.  Finally, on the last mission, we got 220!  That's a team best score over two seasons.

We came home with the Programming Award, which makes us really proud because that's been the hardest area for us to learn.  We also advanced to the Regional Tournament at the Canon School in Concord on December 1st.  We're really excited to get another chance to show what we've worked on this season, but we also are working on improving our missions.

Community Share Event - Thursday, November 15th, 2012

The Flaming Robo Duckies hosted a Community Share Event on Thursday, November 15th.  Guests were invited to one of our meetings, where we shared our project, skit, and robot game.  We shared our experiences being on a FIRST Lego League team and it was fun sharing what we've worked on all season.  Thank you everyone who took the time to come out visit us!
